Things to Do in Amalfi

Amalfi is the town that gave the entire coast its name, once the seat of a powerful medieval maritime republic that rivaled Venice and Genoa for control of Mediterranean trade. Its striped Duomo di Sant'Andrea dominates a stepped piazza at the center of town, while the small Paper Museum recalls a papermaking tradition that dates back centuries. Amalfi's harbor is also the busiest launch point on the coast for boat trips to Positano, Capri, and the coastline's hidden coves.
